In the midst of the current severe recession, we've increasingly been hearing a common message from Lodge and Chapter officers, from State Association leaders and Deputy Grand Regents, and from our Membership Department field staff: Members are telling us they're not renewing this year because they're out of work, or have endured pay cuts, or have had their household income otherwise reduced.

So in late February, the Membership Department came up with an idea we'd never tried before, even during the Great Depression 75 years before. It's a bit of a risk, and more than a bit of a revenue sacrifice. But we figured that if it worked, it would pay off for everybody, and for the fraternity on a long-term basis:

Sponsor two membership applications during the three-month period between March 1 and May 31, and if both those members are added to the rolls by May 31--the member sponsor's dues for the following year are waived, completely . . .$0!

As an added incentive, in this campaign we've dubbed "Climb Aboard the Moose Member-Ship," any member of either the Loyal Order of Moose or Women of the Moose who sponsors two applications during the period--whether enrolled by May 31 or not--is having their name entered in a drawing to win one of three cruises for two aboard the Carnival cruise ship Splendor, which will sail, with hundreds of Moose members aboard, to the Mexican Riviera from Oct. 10-17, 2010!

Then, for each additional application reported during the March 1-May 31 period, the sponsor will receive another entry in the drawing! All applications must be transmitted to Moose International via LCL.net by 10 p.m. CDT on May 31, 2010 to be eligible.

The first lucky cruise winner, with name drawn April 1, is Shelby Sealock, of Front Royal, VA Chapter 1194! Two more winners will have their names drawn May 1 and June 1, and we'll post them on the Members Only side of www.mooseintl.org!

Please note that these drawing prizes are for the cruise only; it does not include air travel to or from Los Angeles, the port of debarkation on Oct. 10 and of return on Oct. 17.

But again--the winners in this campaign are many more than just those three cruise winners!  For everyone, it's so simple: Sponsor two candidates for Moose membership between March 1 and May 31, and if they're added to the rolls by May 31, you as their sponsor can WAVE NEXT YEAR'S DUES GOODBYE!
