Dear Lodge and Chapter Officers,

On Sunday September 26 and (Saturday October 16th, 2021 if needed), The Ohio State Moose Association will hold its Student Congress at the Newark Moose Lodge #499. The success of this year's Student Congress will be assured with your help and participation! We are asking each lodge and Chapter in the Association to reach out to their local High Schools and to select students to represent their schools on that this day. Please explain to the school contacts that the students chosen will participate in talks on substance abuse during this time.

Youth Awareness is a core initiative within the Heart of the Community program set forth by Moose International, and your participation is a simple, easy HOC project for your lodge/Chapter. After the Congress, student participants will have the information they need to return to their communities and give "Kidstalk" Presentations to younger children, ages four to nine. Talks can be given to school classes, 4H groups, afterschool programs, or any other civic organizations. Presentations need to be completed and forms returned to me by December 15, 2021. The necessary forms will be distributed to students at the Student Congress.

The student application is included with this letter. If you need more than the one enclosed, feel free to make copies. Each lodge is asked to sponsor one or more students. The fee per student is $25,00, payable to the OSMA, which includes all of the activities, lunch, and breaks. Please return all applications and fees to me no later than September 20, 2021. This will help with planning the event. Lodges and Chapters sponsoring a student are asked to provide his/her transportation to and from the Congress.

Based on the returned "Kidstalk" Presentation reporting forms, a student or students will be chosen to attend the 2021-22 International Student Congress to be held in Orlando, Florida from April 28 through May 2, 2022. At this International Congress, five students will be chosen to receive scholarships ranging in value from $12,000 to $2,000! The Ohio winner will also be awarded a $500 scholarship courtesy of the Ohio State Moose Association.

Thank you in advance for your participation in this program and I look forward to meeting your representatives in Newark on September 26th and October 16th (if needed).

Fraternally,

Jamie Wilden OSMA Youth Awareness Coordinator
